Ease of use is a common phrase used to describe software features and functionality. Such ease of use capabilities do come with some difficulties, but these too have a solution. Users who have developed numerous excel files know the difficulties of searching, opening, deleting and basically managing files and their location on a directory. An innovative plug-in for FileMaker allows files stored on any directory to be sorted, queried, deleted, created and edited, and all from within the database software, which can be linked to any application. These features extend to automating file import and export functions, and the creation of web files, such as catalogs that can be updated easily.
The ease of automation capabilities for FileMaker also includes a PDF Manipulator. Users who have struggled copying and pasting text from PDF files, can now easily open a PDF file and extract all the data and move it effortlessly into a FileMaker database. The text will then be available to share with a few clicks.
FileMaker also provides an Address Book Manipulator plug-in. Like the PDF Manipulator, groups that need to access address book information often have to send e-mails with a single address attached. With the Address Book Manipulator, users can quickly access address book information to be shared throughout the corporation. The exchange of data is bidirectional so corporate address data can be updated and read to help keep addresses current.
